Checklist from Open Meeting on Wednesday, May 3:

  • Small segments
    • that can be easily changed/replaced/updated
    • short time frame to hold student attention
  • Emphasize practical, not theoretical
    • Consider using Question format for framing; put questions on sidebar
    • Get Distance Ed students involved in evaluating
    • Look at past questions from Distance Ed students
    • Consider how to integrate communication with Dist Ed students assistants and course facilitators
  • Identification - who we, the library, is and are
    • Include the human touch, and that we are here to help
    • How to contact library and librarians for help
  • Access - connecting/proxy
  • Web site - how to navigate
    • e.g., find branch library web site and information
  • Searching
    • Distinguishing between DBs and ejournals
    • How to go from citation to full-text (ejournals)
    • What to do to request/find items not online
    • Emphasize haphazardness / unpredictability of research process
    • ShowMe content / abbreviate, use in smaller pieces?
