Boston Library Consortium
The Boston Library Consortium is an association of 17 academic and research libraries located in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. Founded in 1970, the Consortium supports resource sharing and enhancement of services to users through programs in cooperative collecting, access to electronic resources and physical collections, and enhanced interlibrary loan and document delivery.
Online Borrowing through BU WorldCat Local
Online borrowing through the BU WorldCat Local provides BU students, faculty, and staff with a mechanism for submitting loan requests directly to these libraries.
On-site Borrowing with a Consortium Card
Books can be borrowed on site at all Consortium libraries by presenting a Consortium Card. BU students, faculty, and staff in good standing (no outstanding fines in excess of $10) can apply for a card online. Cards are prepared at Mugar Memorial Library (771 Commonwealth Ave.) and can be picked up at the Circulation Desk there on the next weekday after applying.
On-site Use with your BU ID
Boston University’s membership in the Consortium means BU students, faculty, and staff can use their BU IDs to gain entry to member libraries and make in-house use of resources.
