Create an Account

New users must register for a SciFinder account.  This requires a BU username and Kerberos password, a BU email account [such as "jstudent@bu.edu"], and is limited to current BU students, faculty, and staff.

What is SciFinder Web?

SciFinder Web is the web version of SciFinder, and provides access to the CAS (Chemical Abstracts Service) database through a browser. It is an alternative to the older client version of SciFinder, which requires downloading software to your PC or Mac. Most users will prefer the ease of using SciFinder web, and it can easily be accessed from off-campus.

Technical Requirements:

  1. Web browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 6.0 or higher; or Mozilla Firefox, version 2.0 or higher.
  2. Javascript, JAVA, and cookies must be enabled.
  3. JAVA runtime environment (JRE) 6.0 is needed for structure drawing.

Please read the SciFinder User Agreement. Note that by registering for the web version of SciFinder, or by downloading the SciFinder Scholar Mac or PC clients, you are implicitly accepting the SciFinder User Agreement.
