Open Access Explained

July 31st, 2013

in Frederick S. Pardee Management Library, Mugar Memorial Library, Pickering Educational Resources Library

Increasing numbers of government agencies such as the National Institutes of Health are mandating Open Access to publications resulting from publicly funded research. The White House recently issued an open access directive. Other advocates include individual authors, journals, and academic institutions.

At BU, both the University Council and the Faculty Council have approved an Open Access Initiative co-written by the University Librarian Robert Hudson. At the BU Libraries we work to provide open access to BU research through OpenBU and through support for open access journal publishing.

To learn more about how you can comply with open access requirements, and also benefit from having your publications freely available online, please contact a librarian below.
