February 7th, 2013

in African Studies Library, Mugar Memorial Library, Pickering Educational Resources Library

janemeyers On Wednesday, January 30th, the African Studies Library, located on the 6th floor of Mugar Memorial Library had the honor of hosting an open house with Jane Meyers, President of the Lubuto Library Project in Zambia. Jane Meyers spoke with Micaela Brody, a Mugar Greene Scholar about the important role that libraries, such as those associated with the LLP, can play in the national advancement and enrichment of developing countries like Zambia. These institutions go beyond just the promotion of reading and provide safe spaces for children to learn. The LLP is also actively involved in preserving the national heritage of Zambia through its stories, some of which will be provided from the African Studies Library’s own collection. Please read Micaela Brody’s excellent blog post about her discussion with Jane on the Mugar Greene Scholar’s blog, Uncommon Discussion.
