An African music audio archive: Digital Collection of East African Recordings
We call your attention to an important newer audio streaming resource for the study of traditional music in contemporary Africa. The Digital Collection of East African Recordings has, since 2004, captured adults and children performing live in rural and urban regions of Uganda. Over 1300 examples of traditional music are now processed and described in great detail. This collection, the DCEAR, forms a portion of Vanderbilt University’s Global Music Archive.
The collection is open access for educational and non-commercial purposes. The file format is .rm and utilizes RealPlayer.
