Distance Education Advisories & Resources

November 2011

For all users regardless of your location

Begin your use of subscription indexes, databases and eJournals from BU library web pages such as
the main home http://www.bu.edu/library or at music's home http://www.bu.edu/library/music.
Why? BU's library pages assure you will navigate through specially licensed subscriptions (enter your BU Kerberos login when you see the generic BU login screen). That login is the authentication step for your "deep" access to the restricted subscription portion of our electronic holdings.

Please see important tips and review:

Doctoral Residencies
We look forward to welcoming doctoral candidates for residencies. Gather for your orientation to the Music Library of Mugar Memorial Library, and Mugar itself, at 771 Comm Ave, 2nd floor, listening room area. During your time here, know that there are plenty of outlets for laptops and we have wireless access--but bring your own electric power cable and flash drives. See also hours for the Music staff, the Mugar Building, and the School of Music Curriculum Library.

Driving in?
Careful: the City of Boston *tows* vehicles parked on Comm Ave between 12 am and 7 am.

Technical trouble-shooting
Mac users & .pdfs: please see this new advisory if you encounter difficulties opening .pdfs and 'Preview' is your default application. We thank Ron Giltrap of Information Technology for the final diagnosis and solution presented here.
