UNDOC: Current Index

Published quarterly in paper format and cumulated annually on microfiche, UNDOC, like its predecessor UNDEX (see next entry) is an index to UN documents. The index covers major reports and studies, resolutions and decisions, draft resolutions, meeting records, and miscellaneous documents. The bibliographic entries in each issue of UNDOC are arranged by document symbol. There are indexes by personal or corporate name, title, and subject. UNDOC ceased publication in 1996.

UNDEX: United Nations Documents Index

Published monthly and cumulated annually as three separate series, UNDEX, like its successor UNDOC (see previous entry), is an index to UN documents. Indexing is by subject (Series A) and by country (Series B). Bibliographic records for the indexed documents are published in the monthly lists of documents issued (Series C), and are arranged by document symbol in semiannual sequences.

United Nations Documents Index

This index to UN documents precedes UNDEX and UNDOC (see previous entries). A monthly checklist, arranged by document symbol, contains bibliographic records of documents issued. Annual cumulative checklist volumes were published beginning with volume 14 (1963). Annual cumulative subject indexes, also published as separate volumes after 1963, accompany the checklists.

Indexes to Proceedings

These are indexes to the published records of meetings of the principal UN organs. Indexes are published for each session of these UN bodies, and include sessional information, a list of meetings, agendas, a subject index, an index to speeches, and a list of documents. The Index to Proceedings of the Trusteeship Council ceased publication with the 61st Session (1 November 1994), when the last remaining trust territory, Palau, became an independent nation.

United Nations Documents and Publications

A comprehensive microfiche collection of UN documents published by Readex. The Checklist (see next entry) provides monthly and cumulative annual listings of the documents in this collection. AccessUN, Readex's index to UN documents, includes the Readex Year and Document Number in the bibliographic records of documents reproduced in the microfiche collection. Coverage of General Assembly, Economic and Social Council, International Court of Justice, Security Council, Secretariat, and Trusteeship Council documents is nearly complete. Many documents of subsidiary bodies of these six principal UN organs are also included, as are selected documents of the UN Conference on Trade and Development, the UN Development Program, the UN Environment Programme, and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

A quarterly annotated bibliography of publications of intergovernmental organizations, including international and regional transnational organizations. Statistical Universe is an online version of three indexes: American Statistics Index, covering 1973 to the present; Index to International Statistics (see next entry), covering 1983 to the present; and Statistical Reference Index, covering 1980 to the present. Statistical Universe indexes and abstracts social, demographic, and economic statistics from the UN and other international governmental organizations, the U.S. government, U.S. state governments, and U.S. private non-profit and commercial associations and organizations. Coverage of statistics from the UN and other international sources is from 1980 to present. Some statistical tables are available online in the database; almost all of the tables are available on microfiche in the ASI, IIS, and SRI collections in Mugar Memorial Library.

Index to International Statistics

LexisNexis Statistical Universe (see previous entry) is an online version of this index. Index to International Statistics indexes and abstracts statistical publications of international intergovernmental organizations, including the United Nations. Almost all of the publications indexed are available on microfiche in the IIS collection. Mugar Memorial Library has the complete IIS microfiche from 1983 to the present.

A comprehensive compilation of statistics on social and economic conditions and activities nationally, regionally, and for the world as a whole. The tables are grouped into four categories: a world and region summary; population and social statistics; economic activity; and international economic relations.

Demographic Yearbook

A comprehensive collection of international demographic statistics. Multilaterals Project

The Multilaterals Project, maintained by Tufts University's Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, makes available the texts of international multilateral conventions and other instruments. It includes environmental agreements, and treaties covering human rights, commerce and trade, laws of war and arms control, and other areas. Most of the texts date from the second half of this century, although the collection also includes some historical texts.

The Consolidated Treaty Series

The volumes in this series reproduce the texts of treaties from 1648 through 1919. The texts are in their original languages, along with translations, when available, into English or French. An Index-Guide [Mugar JX120 .P352] to the series consists of a general chronological list of the treaties and an alphabetical index to countries showing the treaties to which each country is a party.

A directory of international organizations, published by the Union of International Associations. Contains descriptions of each organization, a geographic index, a subject directory and index, and bibliographies of publications by and about international organizations.
