This U.S. Census Bureau web site makes it possible to retrieve data from 2000 U.S. Census Summary Tape Files (STFs). Full socioeconomic and demographic variables are available for the sample count contained on STF3; basic demographic variables are available for the 100% count contained on STF1. Data from both files may be retrieved by detailed geographic areas, including state, county, and census tract. STF3 data may also be retrieved by zip code. Also includes a link to the 1990 Census.
 
          Guide to 1990 U.S. Decennial Census Publications
Using abstracts and indexes derived from the American Statistics Index (see below), this is a cumulative guide to census reports based on the 1990 Census of Population and Housing. Abstracts describe the purpose and content of each publication. Indexes provide access by subjects and names, categories, report numbers, and titles. LexisNexis Statistical indexes and abstracts social, demographic, and economic statistics from the U.S. government, the U.N. and other international governmental organizations, U.S. state governments, and U.S. private non-profit and commercial associations and organizations. Coverage of statistics published in U.S. federal government sources is from 1973 to present. American Statistics Index
LexisNexis Statistical (see previous entry) is an online version of this index. American Statistics Index indexes and abstracts statistical publications of the United States federal government. The ASI Index covers "all Federal agency publications that contain social, economic, demographic, or natural resources data, and a selection of publications with scientific and technical data." An annual cumulative volume provides indexing by subjects and names; by geographic, economic, and demographic categories; by titles; by agency report numbers; and by Superintendent of Documents numbers. An accompanying volume contains abstracts of the publications. The 1974 volume of the ASI Index is both an annual and a retrospective edition, providing complete coverage of publications issued during 1973, nearly complete coverage of publications issued from 1970 to 1972, and selective coverage of publications issued during the 1960s. All of the publications indexed are available on microfiche in the ASI collection. Mugar Memorial Library has the ASI microfiche from 1978 to the present.

Statistical Abstract of the United States

This basic compendium of statistics on many different topics is compiled by the U.S. Bureau of the Census. The Statistical Abstract includes primarily statistics on social and economic conditions in the United States. Selected international data are also included. The Statistical Abstract is published annually and, due to copyright issues, some of the statistical tables in the print edition are not available online.

LexisNexis Congressional is an online version of the CIS Index (see below), which abstracts U.S. Congressional publications from 1970 to the present. The publications include Bills, Hearings, Committee Prints, House and Senate Reports, House and Senate Documents, Senate Treaty Documents, Senate Executive Reports, and the Congressional Record. These publications are available in the CIS microfiche collections of Mugar Library and Pappas Law Library. LexisNexis Congressional contains the full text of publications issued since 1995, and of some publications issued as far back as 1980. The database also includes Public Laws, the U.S. Code, the Federal Register, the Code of Federal Regulations, and a search form (Inside Washington) for news analysis of Congressional activity.

An annual cumulative volume provides indexing by subjects, titles, bill numbers, report numbers, document numbers, hearing numbers, and print numbers. A second volume contains abstracts of the publications indexed in CIS. Since 1984, a third volume gives legislative histories for the public laws enacted during the time period covered (prior to 1984 the legislative histories were published as a separate section in the annual abstracts volume). Major Studies & Issue Briefs of the Congressional Research Service
An annotated bibliography of and index to publications of the Congressional Research Service (CRS). CRS produces reports for Congress on topics related to Congressional investigations and legislation. A two volume cumulative index covers 1916 - 1989, and annual supplementary indexes cover subsequent years. The publications are indexed by subjects and names, titles, and report numbers. Daily Compilation of Presidential Documents
The Compilation of Presidential Documents and its predecessor, the Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents is published by the Office of the Federal Register, National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).

This collection integrates material from the weekly publication dating from 1993, with Daily Compilation material as published from January 20, 2009 – forward. The website is updated frequently, as information is released by the White House press office to Federal Register editors. Documents appearing in the Compilation of Presidential Documents collection are edited for accuracy and annotated with additional information to provide an authoritative record of the Presidency.

Public Papers of the Presidents of the United States

The Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower volumes were published retrospectively. Cumulated Indexes to the Public Papers of the Presidents of the United States are shelved chronologically with the corresponding presidential administration's papers. The papers of Franklin Roosevelt and earlier presidents were published by commercial publishers, and are therefore not part of this series.

The Declassified Documents Reference System (DDRS) is a digital archive of declassified U.S. government documents. Documents in this collection date from the years immediately following World War II through the 1970s, and cover the major foreign and domestic events of this time period. This is a full text database, containing searchable transcripts of the documents' text. The database also contains digital facsimiles of the documents. The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is an independent federal agency that oversees the management of all federal government records. Its collections include textual, audiovisual, cartographic, and electronic records. Comprehensive coverage of NARA's holdings of records that originated in the executive, judicial, and legislative branches of the federal government is available in the Research Room, which contains an online version of the Guide to Federal Records in the National Archives of the United States [Mugar Reference X CD3026 1995]. Many records only briefly identified in the Guide are more fully described in the NARA Archival Information Locator (NAIL). NAIL is the working prototype for an online catalog of NARA's holdings in Washington, the regional archives, and the Presidential libraries. It contains descriptions of microfilm publications and archival holdings, and digital copies, but represents only a subset of NARA's holdings.

Foreign Broadcast Information Service
The Daily Report series of the Foreign Broadcasting Information Service (FBIS) contains transcripts of newspaper articles and news broadcasts from all regions of the world.
