" I am now come to the ships of the Achaeans to ransom his body from you with a great ransom. Fear, O Achilles, the wrath of heaven; think on your own father and have compassion upon me, who am the more pitiable, for I have steeled myself as no man yet has ever steeled himself before me, and have raised to my lips the hand of him who slew my son." Iliad 24.500 (Click on image for description.)

Early Photography in Greece and the Mediterranean
Getty Research Institute. " The [ Gary Edwards Collection] consists of over one thousand photographs, stereographs, cartes-de visite, glass diapositives, and photographically-illustrated books. Among the earliest images are a number of calotypes and salted-paper prints created before 1859, pre-1860 stereo cards, and nearly two hundred and fifty are albumen prints dating to before 1870. The collection is notable for the rarity of many of the large-format photographs and for the comprehensive representation of photographers who were active in Greece in the nineteenth century. "

Bibliographical Indexes

Most of these indexes to articles in periodicals DO NOT contain online full-text articles;  they contain ONLY CITATIONS to articles.  To find out if the articles in your citations are available online, check Boston University Libraries--Electronic Journals; be sure to match article publication date with the journal's dates of online availability. For example, a search for "Athena and Parthenon" in L'Annee Philologique retrieves the citation:

Samons, Loren J. The « Kallias decrees » (IG I3 52) and the inventories of Athena's treasure in the Parthenon
CQ 1996 N. S. 46 (1) : 91-102

A check of our electronic journal collections, however, indicates the article is available online in an electronic resource:
Classical Quarterly , from 4/1/1907 -- 1999 , the provider is: JSTOR Arts and Sciences II Collection
