Chemical Data

I. Basic Data

Abbreviations of Chemical Compounds
Find the name of the chemical compound from its abbreviation.

ChemIDplus Advanced
CHEM IDplus is a chemical dictionary file for over 339,000 compounds. Records include Chemical Abstracts Service registry numbers (RN) and other identifying numbers, molecular formula, generic names, other synonyms, and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH). Sponsored and maintained by the National Library of Medicine (NLM).

CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics

Online counterpart of the print edition.

NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) Reference on Constants, Units, and Uncertainty
This site provides fundamental constants, SI (International System) units, and conversion factors.

II. Physical Constants

    Aldrich Catalog of Fine Chemicals
Provides molecular and spectra data. Possible available data includes: boiling point (bp), melting point (mp), density (d), flash point (Fp), formula weight (FW), index of refraction, and chemical purity. Pertinent literature references to: Beilstein, Merck, Fieser, Aldrich Library of 13C, FT-IR, and 1H FT NMR Spectra and Chemical Abstracts Service registry number (RN).

    Combined Chemical Dictionary
Includes descriptive and numerical data on chemical, physical and biological properties of compounds. Covers compounds published in:
Dictionary of Organic Compounds, Dictionary of Natural Products, Dictionary of Inorganic and Organometallic Compounds, Dictionary of Drugs, and Dictionary of Analytical Reagents.

    ChemFinder Server
A searchable substructure database for over 3,800 chemical compounds. Provides basic physical data and links to websites containing other data for a large number of chemical compounds. It is searchable by name, molecular weight (MW), molecular formula (MF), Chemical Abstracts Service registry number (RN), or structure.

    The Laws List
A collection of laws, rules, and constants in physical chemistry.

    NIST Chemistry WebBook
Contains, among other data, thermochemical tables, IR and mass spectra, enthalpy, heat capacity, entropy, and vapor pressure for organic and inorganic compounds.

NIST Reference on Constants, Units, and Uncertainty
Contains CODATA internationally recommended values for fundamental physical constants.

    Organic Compounds Database
This database provides physical data on a large number of organic compounds, including molecular weight (MW), melting point (mp), boiling point (bp), index of refraction and UV absorption peaks. It is searchable by name, molecular formula, or by data values for the above properties.

    WebElements
A hypertext-linked collection of property data on the first 112 elements. It's also the site of the ChemPuter, helpful for solving chemical equations.

III. Thermophysical Data

    Thermodex
This database contains records for over 120 printed handbooks and compilations of thermodynamic and thermophysical data excluding Beilstein, Landolt-Bornstein, CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics and Perry's Handbook. It enables you to enter type of compound or physical property, and will return a list of handbooks that might contain this data. Full entries include title, a brief abstract explaining the work's scope and arrangement, and the properties and types of compounds included.

IV. Biochemistry

    Metabolic Pathways of Biochemistry
An online reference to carbohydrate, lipid, amino acid, and energy metabolism. This site is designed to graphically represent all major metabolic pathways, primarily those important to human biochemistry.

    Table of the Nuclides
An interactive web site displaying all known nuclides.

V. Hazardous Chemicals

    Hazardous Chemicals Database
This database contains information on 1300 hazardous chemicals. It is searchable by keyword only. Potential keywords include names, formula and registry numbers (CAS, DOT, RTECS and EPA).
