Volume 2 groups gods by iconography and uses descriptive tables to assist users with identifying and understanding these deities. Volume 2 also includes color plates, glossaries, appendices, and a deity list.

Encyclopedia of Buddhism

This single volume includes a chronology of Buddhist history, a pronunciation guide, and a guide to Buddhist scriptures in addition to the main entries, which are presented alphabetically.  Very helpful is the "list of entries by major topic", from which a person can navigate to related entries scattered in the book.  Reference for further reading are also grouped by major topics, available in the back of the volume near the index.
