This guide is a list of funding resources for musicians including such topics as fellowships, competitions and grants. Resources are broken down into two categories: those at Boston University and those outside the University. Please direct all inquiries to musiclib@bu.edu.

Resources at Boston University

GUTS – Grants for Undergraduate Teaching and Scholarship

August 1st deadline.
Faculty may apply for funds to enable or enhance inquiry-based courses for undergraduates.

Humanities Foundation

Accepts proposals by University affiliates seeking support for individual and collective scholarly work toward symposia, publication, student and junior faculty research, and library acquisitions.

Office of Fellowships and Scholarships

Relevant to all affiliates from undergraduates through faculty in their advisory, teaching and research roles. Coordinates information and applications for fellowships, scholarships, awards and prizes internal to the University as well as for many other domestic and international programs which require the University’s review.

Office of Sponsored Programs

Locate external funding opportunities, including links to federal funding; provides assistance with proposal development through administration of funded projects; additional relevant link to BU’s IRB

UROP – Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program

Promotes student involvement in research activities of University faculty; also helps identify undergraduate opportunities outside the University.
