EZproxy Portal
for BU Charles River Campus Libraries
Notice: This page is soon to be discontinued as the University will cease supporting this (portal) form of EZProxy as of summer 2008.
The University is currently supporting a new EZProxy server that requires all links to subscription electronic resources to be modified.
For information on how to connect to the new EZProxy system, and to modify links in Courseware, go to the EZProxy introduction page
CLICK HERE TO USE EZPROXY |
You will be asked to log in with your BU login name and Kerberos password, then
taken to the main BU Library web page.
This page is an EZproxy Portal which allows most members
of the Boston University Community using off-campus computers to access
Boston University Library e-journals and other e-resources without having
to configure a VPN or any proxy settings in their browser.
To use EZproxy:
Just click the link above which will direct you to a web login page usable
by anyone in the Boston University Charles River Campus (CRC) community.
Enter your BU login name and Kerberos password and you will
be taken directly to the Main BU Library website with EZproxy running
in the background.
NOTES for using EZproxy:
- If you are using a computer that is on the BU network you will automatically
bypass EZproxy. You will not be prompted for your BU login name and Kerberos
password, but you will still be able to access the e-journals and other
e-resources.
- Access restrictions are required by our license agreements with the
database vendors. In many cases, those vendors have allowed us to add
proxy access for our users. In cases where vendors do not allow proxy
access, you may be denied access to the database via EZproxy.
- You can tell if you will be denied access to a site if in the column
called "Access Codes" on your eJournal or database page it says
something like "ChRiv". Access for sites that say "ChRiv-px"
or "BU-px" will allow proxy access. Access code "WWW"
doesn't require proxy and will work fine with or without proxy access.
- Currently people associated with the BU Medical School
are not (for licensing purposes) considered part of the Charles River
Campus (CRC). Medical Campus faculty, staff, and students should access
e-resources through the Medical Library.
- EZproxy for the Medical Library should be implemented in the future.
- People associated with the BU Law School are considered
part of the CRC community and can use all BU-px and ChRiv-px resources
on the main BU Library website.
- EZproxy for the Law Library should be implemented in the future.
