Welcome Events

3:00 – 5:00 PM Welcome reception
Location: African Studies Library, 6th floor, Mugar Memorial Library, 771 Commonwealth Ave.

4:30PM Dr. Gerald Rizzo will be leading a tour of  the Afriterra Cartographic Library.
The tour will depart directly from the reception.
(The Afriterra Library will also be hosting an Open House from Thurs to Sat., 10AM to 6PM. Location: 400 Commonwealth Ave. Suite 104a)

7:30-9:45PM  Dee Dee Bridgewater Concert
Location: Tsai Performance Center, 685 Commonwealth Ave.
Free concert hosted by jointly by the Arts Initiative and the African American Studies Center as part of their week-long conference and activities.

Location: Terrace Lounge, 2nd floor of the George Sherman Union (GSU), 771 Commonwealth Ave.

8:30am – 9:30am: Cataloging Committee

9:30am – 10:30am: Book Donations Committee

10:30am – 10:45am: Break

10:45am – 12:15pm: Bibliography Committee

12:15pm-12:45pm:  Toast

12:45pm – 2pm: Lunch on your own – please see list of restaurants

2:00pm – 3:00pm: Title VI Libraries

3:00pm – 5:00pm: ALC Business Meeting

5:00pm – 5:30pm: ALC Executive Board

7PM – Dinner, music & key-note address
Location: Trustees Ballroom, 9th floor, 1 Silber Way (near Kenmore Square)
If you registered to go to this event, Beth Restrick will have your tickets for you on Friday
This is a combined event between the African Studies Center (in honor of the 60th anniversary), the African American Studies Center (as part of their conference) and the Africana Librarians Council. Keynote Address will be given by James Pritchett (ASA President and former Director of the African Studies Centers at BU).
