About the Web Site Images

The images used on the Libraries web site are sampled from a map drawn as a representation of President Lemuel Murlin's dream campus. Murlin was president of Boston University from 1911-1924. The map appears in a 1925 University fund-raising brochure held by BU's Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center.

President Murlin's dream campus along the banks of the Charles River and "In the Heart of the City" became the Charles River Campus of Boston University and is its home today.

Specific items on the map have been isolated and used as graphical elements and watermarked images on page backgrounds throughout the site.
