How do I know if BU has electronic full text of a journal article?
Several ways:
If working from a subscription database, the link should take you to available full text. If you don't see what you need, you should also check the following option:
The eJournals Locator is the most up-to-date and complete record
of our electronic subscriptions. Search this database by the
journal title (not article title). This should
be your first choice if checking items on a bibliography or
syllabus.
You can also find links to full text through the BU catalog.
The eJournals Locator and/or button indicates that we have this journal; why isn't the year/issue I need available?
Fulltext
is not available for every article, or for every year of a
journal to which we subscribe. It may be that our subscription
began with later issues, or ended earlier than the year you
need; it may be that the database arrangement with the publisher
did not include all years, or that contract terms have changed
recently. Look carefully at the available years in the eJournals
Locator - we do often have overlapping suppliers of titles. ( show me )
If we have a current subscription in print (check the BU
Online Catalog link after each title listing in the eJournals
Locator), the odds are greater that we would have an online
subscription as well.
doesn't
find any electronic full text. Is this a mistake?
No
- the 'Find@BU' icon is not a promise of full text. However,
if there is a discrepancy between the information on the 'Find@BU'
pop-up screen and the
eJournals
Locator list,
please let us know. And don't forget - we may have the journal
in print!
The
full text link takes me to a publisher page asking for payment
- is this right?
Assuming
that you are in the group eligible for access, no payment
is required for articles in journal years to which we subscribe;
however, we do not subscribe to all years of every journal. Remember
to doublecheck journal titles in the eJournals
Locator for the most up-to-date and complete record of our
electronic subscriptions, including the range of years available
for a particular journal subscription.
I'm on the Medical Campus; why
am I getting an error message when I try to access a database or article?
Each
eResource subscription is restricted by license to particular
groups (Law, Med, and Charles River Campus). It may be that
the resource you are trying to use is not available to your
user group. (check you user group here)
If the eJournals
Locator or databases
list indicates that your group should have access, and you
don't, please let us know. The designation 'BU-px'
should give all BU affiliates access regardless of group.
