Date: March 10, 2010 Today's Activity: Field Trip to BU Description: Today we brought the girls over to Boston University to give them a tour of a couple labs in the Photonics Building. We first demonstrated a sniper detection robot which one of the professors at BU is working on. They even got to use the remote themselves and control the movements of the robot.

For the next activity, we went to the High Tech Tools and Toys Lab which is located in the Photonics building. We taught the girls some simple concepts about LEDs. We had them build a LED parachute. They attached a battery between the two legs of the LED and made a parachute out of garbage bags. They dropped them from the 9th floor to the 7th floor in the Photonics building. They were very amazed and proud of their accomplishment! |
