INQUIRING MINDS
SCIENCE IMMERSION INSTITUTES for K-8 Teachers

If you are a K-8 teacher interested in making science more engaging for your students, we offer you a choice of two immersive workshops, one with a focus on Light and the other with a focus on Green Energy. Both courses will provide a model for participants of how to use inquiry-based methods for instruction; help participants develop a deeper understanding of the nature of science; and, build participants' confidence in their ability to teach science.

Both Institutes:

  • offer you the opportunity to explore these topics in an open and hands on manner;
  • pay a stipend of $1000 plus 4 graduate credits from the Boston University School of Education;
  • are two weeks in duration and will take place July 14-25, 2008 (**note five pre-immersion meetings are also required in May/June).

For questions or more information about the two Summer Institutes, please contact Cynthia Brossman by calling 617-353-7021 or emailing cab@bu.edu

The Inquiring Minds Immersion Institutes are funded by the Board of Higher Education's STEM Pipeline Fund, a grant from Mr. Stephen D. Bechtel, Jr., and financial support from Schlumberger

Boston University, Northeastern University and Wheelock College will deliver the institutes.
