Summer Research Assistant Training

The Pappas Law Library staff will be offering the orientation program for all summer research assistants May 2010, after exams and the journal writing competition. The orientation will provide basic information on enhanced services for research assistants as well as details on training sessions designed for the specialized research needs of summer research assistants and their faculty members.

Strategies for Locating Briefs, Dockets, and other Court Documents

You know how to locate formal, published court decisions. But where can a researcher look for briefs, court dockets and other documents filed with and produced by federal and state courts? In this session, we'll explore resources for identifying and obtaining briefs and other court documents- including Westlaw, Lexis, and other commercial databases, as well as the Pappas Law Library collections (in print and microfiche), and free Internet sites and other tools for obtaining court documents from trial and appellate courts, and for monitoring cases.
