Training & Orientation Programs for Research Assistants

The library provides an extensive orientation and training program for summer research assistants. Orientation consists of registration for library services as well as a presentation on special services for research assistants. Training sessions cover research techniques and topics relevant to the faculty's research needs.

Research assistants who work during the academic year may obtain a copy of the library's Research Assistant Guide for detailed information on library services. You may also request a research appointment to meet with a reference librarian to discuss special needs.

All research assistants are encouraged to register for library services. (Registration for 2008 Summer Research Assistants will begin on May 1). Registration benefits include:

  • Free Lexis and Westlaw printing to high speed faculty printers.
  • Emails of library announcements affecting Research Assistants.

Summer research assistants need to register for Summer Access to LexisNexis and Westlaw before they can be connected to the free printers.
