Reference and Research Services

Reference librarians are available to assist with research, online searching, questions about the collection and locating resources not owned at Boston University.  The reference desk is located in the Pappas Reading Room.

Law students may contact the reference librarians a number of ways. We encourage you to ask us for assistance anytime you have a question.

Law students working on seminar papers, certification papers, or journal notes are welcome to make an appointment for a research consultation with a reference librarian. The reference librarians can help you develop a research strategy for a successful research paper experience.

The library offers a Certificate in Research Skills for Practice in the Spring for those students looking for advanced research training.. These will cover a variety of skills, databases and subject areas that are important for your development as a skilled researcher.

Groups of five or more law students seeking additional training may request a Training on Demand session. Training on Demand is intended to supplement mandatory training programs and specialized training for Research Assistants and Journal Members.

Boston University faculty who are not affiliated with the law school may request research tours of the law library or classroom instruction for law related classes.
