Additional Services for Law Journal Members: Finding Books
Law Searches * Other BU Libraries Searches * Recalls
If you are unable to locate law materials that the catalog lists as available, submit a search using the Request Material form. Please include your name and choose your journal from the drop down menu. Searches are performed Tuesday through Saturday. If library staff are unable to locate the material, the requestor will be notified and an interlibrary loan request can be initiated. Found materials can be held at either the Pappas or Annex circulation desk. The book will be held for the Journal and may be picked up by any of its members.
BU Non-Law (Mugar, Pardee, Science, etc.) Book Searches
If you are unable to locate materials at other BU libraries that the catalog lists as available, submit searches while you are at the owning library. If the material is not found, the library will change the Status to On Search allowing us to go forward with an Interlibrary Loan for you.
If you place a Search request at another library and do not receive a response within a week, please submit a Material Request Form and indicate the date you placed the search in the comment section. We will contact the other library and request a record update so that we can initiate an Interlibrary Loan for you.
Recalls
Before placing a recall for materials, please check the journal office or the carrel where books are being held to be sure another journal member has not already retrieved the material. Once you have determined that the material is not checked out to a colleague place a recall.
- Law Materials fill out a Request Material form. Returned materials can be held at either the Pappas or Annex circulation desk. The book will be held for the Journal and may be picked up by any of the members.
- BU Non-Law (Mugar, Pardee, Science, etc.) place a recall at the owning library circulation desk. Please place the recall in your name as the Journal circulation records cannot be used at non-law libraries. You might also want to check the owning library's web site to see if an online recall is available.
