Services for Law Faculty: Alerting Services

The library produces and subscribes to several online publications to inform faculty of new books, articles, and symposium issues.  All services are accessible with your BU username and Kerberos password.   Faculty members are alerted via email when new issues are published. 

Legal news alerts and customized LexisNexis and Westlaw alerts are available via the librarian liaisons.

Book and Article Alerts

The following publications include request forms for delivery of materials to law faculty offices. Forms are automatically forwarded to the faculty liaison.

• Pappas Law Library's Recent Acquisitions provides bibliographic information on all recently cataloged materials received by the law library. Faculty may request delivery of any title by clicking on the request delivery link following the title.
• Current Law Reviews, compiled by the Pappas Law Library, contains the contents pages of scholarly law reviews and journals received during the previous week. When available links at the article level are provided to a PDF.
• Current Index to Legal Periodicals (CILP) is published weekly by the University of Washington and it serves as an advance sheet to the Index to Legal Periodicals. When available links to LexisNexis and Westlaw are provided at the article level.

Legal News Alerts

Legal news from BNA, CCH, and Law360 are available via weekday or weekly email alerts.  Your librarian liaison can assist you with setting up these alerting services.

• BNA email notifications:  Daily and weekly alerts covering 20 major topical areas.  By signing up to receive these alerts using your BU email address, you will receive highlights that easily link back to full text results accessible via your BU email login.
• Tracker News (CCH) via IntelliConnect: Provides email alerts in various topical areas covering business and finance, health law, labor and employment, tax and more.  First time BU IntelliConnect users will need to create an account. 
• Law360 email alerts:  Provides weekday alerts in the areas of appellate practice, bankruptcy, competition, contracts, corporate finance, employment, energy, environmental law, financial services, health, insurance, intellectual property, international trade, products liability, securities, technology and top general news.

RSS feeds may be used to follow blogs of interest or to receive alerts from Law360 or TrackerNews via IntelliConnect.  Your librarian liaison can provide assistance in setting up and using RSS feeds.

Customized LexisNexis and Westlaw Alerts

LexisNexis and Westlaw may be used to create automated searches with results delivered based on a schedule, format and method that you choose.  Please contact your librarian liaison for assistance in setting up these alerts.
