Circulation Services: Personal Identification Number (PIN)
What is a PIN * Obtaining a PIN * Using your PIN
A PIN (Personal Identification Number) is required to view your circulation record through the library catalog. In addition to viewing due dates of materials which are checked out to your record, you can also renew materials for two additional loan periods.
Obtaining a PIN
Library patrons can request a PIN by seeing a staff member at the Pappas circulation desk or through email.
Please include your name and BU ID number in the body of the message. A generic PIN is assigned which you can modify from the library catalog. These requests are processed Monday - Friday, 9AM-3PM. You will receive an email once the PIN is activated.
If you have forgotten your PIN, please request a new PIN.
Using your PIN
From the library catalog click on My Account at the top right of the screen. You will then be asked to enter your University ID Number and your PIN. At this point you can choose to modify your pin, or view materials checked out on your record. For renewals click in the box to the left of the record to select individual titles for renewal. Choose either Renew All or Renew Selected Items. Please note the new due dates.
