Massachusetts Case Law Research

The Massachusetts court system consists of the Trial Court, the Massachusetts Appeals Court, and the Supreme Judicial Court. Case reporters publish the decisions of the appellate courts and are available in print and/or electronic resources. Case finding tools such as the digest will help you locate citations to cases in these reporters.

Begin your case law research by consulting secondary sources. These sources provide citations to cases and will help you determine whether your issue requires you to research statutory or administrative law in addition to case law.
