Searching the Supreme Court Records & Briefs Digital Archive

In addition to a basic search by keyword, case name, author, and full text, a powerful advanced search engine provides Boolean searching capabilities, the ability to limit by year, date, certiorari granted/denied ("case heard"), docket number, and document type. For cases where a decision was issued, a researcher may retrieve all documents by the case citation: U.S. Reports, Lawyers' Edition, or Supreme Court Reporter. Browsing by case name or by the author of a document is also available.

Documents available

Documents included in this collection range from transcripts of lower court records, petitions, and parties' and amicus briefs, for decided and certiorari denied cases.

The case name links to the PDF document. The document may be printed, emailed, or saved, up to 50 pages at a time. Full Citation links to a document providing full information on the document, including its authors, docket number of the case, citation if the case was decided, and a static link. The eTable of Contents link allows users to easily peruse a longer document and jump to the relevant sections.
