Executive Branch: Federal Agencies which Regulate the Banking Industry

Federal Reserve Bank Links

Find publications such as press releases, journals, and working papers, annual report, conference and symposia proceedings.  Data such as regional economic indicators and manufacturing and agricultural surveys are available at most Regional Federal Reserve Bank web sites. 

US Banking Association Links

  • American Bankers Association: News, select articles from ABA Banking Journal, links to affiliated organizations and sites of interest, and services for members such as job announcements, calendar of events and schedule of conferences and training sessions.
  • Bank Marketing Association: Provides marketing assistance and education to its members. Affiliated with the American Bankers Association.
  • Conference of State Bank Supervisors: Banking industry news with links to related primary and secondary source documents, such as pending legislation. Also includes a directory of members, information about publications and education programs offered.
  • Independent Community Bankers of America: This association of independently owned and operated community banks' site features legislative and regulatory news and research conducted by the association.
  • Mortgage Bankers Association: Information about the real estate finance market, financial news and surveys of members on issues such as mortgage delinquency rates and application rates.

Intergovernmental Organizations

  • Bank for International Settlements: The BIS, created by the Hague Conference in January 1930, is owned and controlled by central banks.  It provides a number of highly-specialized services to central banks and to the international financial system. Find BIS publications and research, economic statistics, and the full-text of selected international agreements.
  • Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering: Established in 1989 by the G-7, European Union and other states, this group works to combat international money laundering. Information on domestic money laundering legislation, reports from the Task Force and more included.
  • International Monetary Fund: An extensive site which includes information about the organization, links to press releases staff papers, a searchable database of IMF publications, and statistics such as exchange rates.
  • World Bank: Includes information about the organization and its current projects, full-text reports, working papers, newsletters, and other publications. 

Foreign Central Banks

  • The Center for the Study of Central Banks: From New York University's School of Law, the Center fosters interdisciplinary research into the nature and operation of central banks.  In addition to full-text documents and a bibliography of publications, the site includes a list of links to central bank web sites.
  • Foreign Central Banks: Links to hundreds of foreign central banks are maintained by the Center for Research on Employment and Economic Fluctuations at the University of Quebec in Montreal.
  • European Union Central Bank Links: Metasite maintained by the European Central Bank.
  • Central Bank Hub: The bank for international settlements provides links to central banks from Albania to Zimbabwe.

  • Banking Law: From Cornell Law School's Legal Information Institute, this page includes links to federal banking statutes and regulations.
  • IfBG Online: From Germany's University of Goettingen, find links to international and foreign bank resources on the Internet.
  • National Information Center: This Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System site offers statistics about the US banking industry, provides a searchable database of US and foreign banks, and includes bank acquisitions information.

  • BankersOnline.com: Information about the United States banking industry. Includes the full-text of the Federal Reserve Banking regulations.
