Employer FAQs

What is the Tax Attorney Recruiting Event (TARE)?

Legal employers from around the nation are invited to participate in the Fifth Annual Tax Attorney Recruiting Event (TARE). This event has been organized by our law schools to facilitate the hiring of a group of highly qualified LL.M. in Taxation students in an organized, time-efficient manner.  Over 150 of the top LL.M. in Taxation candidates in the country will have an opportunity to be considered for permanent positions during this interview program.

When will the program be held?

This year’s event will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012. Interviews will run from 9:00am to 5:30pm with scheduled breaks. Registration is at 8:30am.  If you have special requests regarding your timeframe, please indicate them in Symplicity.

Which schools participate?

The LL.M. in Taxation programs at Boston University School of Law, Northwestern University School of Law, and the University of Florida Levin College of Law – three of the top five Taxation Programs in the nation – have joined together to provide prospective employers a group of the most qualified candidates from which to recruit.

Which students are eligible to participate?

This event is designed specifically for attorneys possessing U.S. J.D. degrees and who are LL.M. in Taxation candidates at one of the participating schools.  2011 graduates and Class of 2012 candidates will have the opportunity to attend.  Employers must make interview arrangements outside of the TARE venue if they wish to meet with non-participating students on the day of the event.

Which employers participate?

In 2011, TARE attracted many prestigious top law and taxation firms in the country.  Past participants include Ernst & Young, KPMG, Deloitte & Touche, PwC, the Joint Committee on Taxation, Dechert, Baker & McKenzie, and more.

How are interview schedules created?

TARE is 100% pre-screened; employers select their candidates after reviewing student resumes through Symplicity.  Employers will submit position requirements during registration.  Students will review this information starting January 27, 2012 at noon and submit their resumes for consideration.  Employers make candidate selections by February 13, 2012 and students will be notified of preliminary interview schedules on February 14, 2012.  Employers are encouraged to select alternate candidates in order to fill their schedule in the event of a student cancellation.  Preliminary schedules will be available to employers on February 21, 2012 at 3:00PM.

How many interviews are on an interview schedule?

Each interview schedule allows an interviewer to conduct up to 16 interviews.  Interviews are scheduled on a 20 or 30 minute schedule (your choice) from 9:00AM to 5:30PM with morning, afternoon and lunch breaks.

When will interview schedules be available?

Employers may access preliminary interview schedules on February 21, 2012, at 3pm, and final interview schedules will be available on the interview date.
