Wolf Philipp Mueller-Hillebrand ('07)How BU Law helped prepare me for practice It helped me a lot, in the sense that it gave me a real understanding of the American legal system and the American court system, how that works. Coming from Germany, which is a civil law background, you really have no idea until you do the LL.M. how this whole case law, common law system works, and this whole system with the federal courts, the state courts. And I had a concentration in international business practice, which also meant I learned a lot about international law, about conflicts of law, about how you apply the law in different countries. And if you have conflicts of law, if there’s legal contracts—which is a big part of my work now—between two different countries, which law will apply if something goes wrong. And it was definitely a big asset and a very big help in what I’ll be doing.
