Legal Writing

Because new attorneys spend the vast majority of their time writing and researching, the First-Year Writing Program is vitally important to their professional development and appeal to potential employers. This seminar teaches you to write in the style that effectively communicates legal thinking, and provides you with the skills required to conduct valuable legal research.

Program seminars are kept small, with no more than 14 students per class, so you'll receive hands-on instruction in analyzing complex legal questions at a professional level.

Legal Writing Fellows Program

An important resource for first-year students are upper-class Legal Writing Fellows, who meet with students regularly to discuss each writing assignment. Legal Writing Fellows also help instructors develop and update research and writing assignments.
