Real Clients, Real Cases
Students in BU Law clinical programs apply legal theories learned in the classroom to real-life lawyering, representing actual clients in real cases from initial interview to final courtroom summation. You'll get practical experience safe in the knowledge that an accomplished clinical faculty member is overseeing your work.
Full-Time Support
BU Law is one of the first law schools in the nation to staff its clinical programs with full-time faculty, and most of the School's clinical professors have over 20 years of courtroom and teaching experience. Our clinical classes are small; the faculty-student ratio is one to six, ensuring high-caliber supervision and mentoring. Small class-sizes also foster a collegial setting for students, who often turn to each other for case problem-solving.
Four Decades of Experience
Our clinical programs are among the strongest and most respected in the nation. BU Law has been a leader in clinical education since 1962, when it established one of the nation's first clinical programs, the Voluntary Defender's project. Since then, BU Law has continued to innovate, expand and improve its clinical curriculum.
