2 In the Classroom

Although most of our classes are lectures, one is taught in the Socratic method. The class is a favorite of the students in the program, as is the professor. The text for "Civil Law: Case Study" is a translation of the Chinese Civil Code. It ranges in topic from family law to property to contracts. Each week, the professor distributes a handout containing several fact patterns to be discussed in the following class. Our routine is to take the fact patterns to Lush, the ex-pat café south of campus and together scour the code for the applicable law over lunch.
