BU Law Among Top 25 Law Schools for Large Firm Hires in 2011:
School ranks #12 for alumni partners in the largest 100 law firms

Large law firms hired one-fifth of Boston University School of Law’s class of 2011, according to the American Bar Association, ranking BU 23rd among the nation’s 195 law schools for the percentage of graduates hired for full-time positions at firms with 100+ attorneys. Among firms with more than 250 attorneys, BU Law ranks #22 among all law schools, according to the Wall Street Journal Law Blog.

Despite a difficult economy in which hiring was down across the legal sector, BU Law placed 20% of its 2011 graduates in large law firms, far outpacing the national median placement rate of 8%. Ranked as the #7 feeder school to the top ten largest legal markets, according to a recent study in the Journal of Legal Education, BU Law continues its long tradition of alumni landing positions in major law firms.

Once employed by a large law firm, BU alumni demonstrate a strong record of rising to the partner level. According to a recent Journal of Legal Education article, “Where Do Partners Come From?”, BU Law ranks #12 among all law schools for the number of alumni who are partners in the top 100 largest law firms.
