BU Law alumna Lois Herzeca ('79) co-authors new book on fashion law
BU Law alumna Lois Herzeca ('79) and Howard S. Hogan, who are partners at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, have co-written a new book, Fashion Law and Business: Brands & Retailers. Their book, which is published by Practicising Law Institute, was feted at a reception sponsored by Gibson Dunn at Armani Ristorante in New York City on September 10 during New York Fashion Week. Dean Maureen O'Rourke, who provides one of the published reviews that appears on the back cover, attended the event to personally congratulate Herzeca on her accomplishment.
The book covers a variety of legal and business issues faced by designers, suppliers, apparel manufacuturers, and retailers in the fashion world. It provides an authoritative overview of fashion industry considerations, including the application of patent, trademark and copyright law; contractual relationships and regulatory issues; legal issues in leasing and licensing stores; and labor and employment issues related to the fashion industry.
O'Rourke praises the book: "This comprehensive treatment of the legal issues involved in an important industry is required reading for anyone interested in understanding the law and business of fashion. It is destined to become the 'go-to' reference in its field as well as a model for guides in other areas."
