Algorithmic Transparency for the Smart City

  • Starts: 2:45 pm on Wednesday, November 15, 2017
  • Ends: 4:30 pm on Wednesday, November 15, 2017
This event is part of the Cyber Alliance Speaker Series. Rutgers University Prof. Ellen Goodman will report on the study that she conducted with her co-author, George Washington Law Prof. Bob Brauneis, of how cities and states responded to open records requests surrounding their use of predictive algorithms. They concluded that the use of these programs, including the underlying models and implementation, are not sufficiently transparent. They propose a number of reforms to improve public access to, and understanding of, algorithmic governance. Please RSVP for this talk to Tyler Gabrielski at tgabs@bu.edu.
