Volunteer Lawyers Project Training

Pro Bono opportunity for 2Ls and 3Ls with the Volunteer Lawyers Project, Unemployment Appeals Project. Students will represent claimants at administrative hearings, held at the Division of Unemployment Assistance, to secure unemployment insurance benefits. Typically, students will have the opportunity to interview a client, develop a legal theory and strategy for the case, conduct factual and legal research, and represent the claimant at a hearing. The time commitment, per case, is approximately 15 hours and must be completed in a timely manner. Volunteer Lawyers Project provides a mandatory training and students are supervised by an attorney.
