This lecture course is taught with George Annas. It is a broad overview of the role of law in the creation and enforcement of public health policy.

Children At Risk

This seminar is team taught with Dr. Joel Alpert. It explores the medical, legal and social risks children encounter, and how the legal system working with health professionals can address these problems.

Mental Health Law
(LW 854)
1978 - 1989

This seminar deals with a broad array of mental health law and policy, including commitment, treatment refusals, the insanity defense and similar topics.

Law and Medicine
1976 - Present

Originally taught in 1976 as an elective in the School of Medicine, it became a required medical school course in 1983. Since that time, this course has been taught with George Annas. It is designed to introduce medical students to the intricacies of the law of the doctor-patient relationship so that they will be more effective physicians and protect the rights as well as the welfare of their patients.
