Prior to attending law school, Mr. Val Gurvits served for more than eleven years in the computer software industry, developing and marketing large-scale software applications for corporate clients. Mr. Gurvits has first-hand expertise in every aspect of operating a business.

Mr. Gurvits is a graduate cum laude of the Boston University School of Law class of 1999, where he received a concentration in Intellectual Property with honors.

Mr. Gurvits was an associate in the Business Practice Group of Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP in Boston until March of 2002, where he represented technology companies and venture funds. He is now a partner of the Boston Law Group, LLP. He has a general business practice assisting clients in a variety of legal issues, including start-up issues, contracts and agreements, licensing of technology, mergers and acquisitions, financings and intellectual property issues.

Mr. Gurvits served as co-chair of the Computer and Internet Law Committee of the Boston Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section.

In addition to his law practice, Mr. Gurvits a frequent lecturer at the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education and is a visiting associate professor at the Boston University School of Law.

In his legal practice, Mr. Gurvits assists clients in the following areas:

  • Initial business start-up issues (incorporation, partnership, sole proprietorship, etc.)
  • Intellectual Property protection issues (Internet and e-commerce, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets)
  • Licensing issues (technology, employee, customer, distributor, OEM, VAR, etc.)
  • Dispute resolution, including arbitration and litigation matters
  • Financing, Venture Capital and stock issues (stockholder agreements, incentive stock options, VC financings, etc.)
