Interests: American legal history; criminal law; sentencing After receiving his J.D. degree in 1995, Gerry Leonard served two clerkships, first for the Honorable J. Dickson Phillips, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and then for Justice David H. Souter of the U.S. Supreme Court. He joined the faculty at Boston University School of Law in 1997. His book, The Invention of Party Politics: Federalism, Popular Sovereignty, and Constitutional Development in Jacksonian Illinois, was published in the fall of 2002 by the University of North Carolina Press’s Studies in Legal History series. |
