Examination of the criminal court process with emphasis on the impact of the Fifth, Sixth, and Eighth Amendments. Topics include the right to counsel, pretrial release and detention, charging and prosecutorial discretion, grand jury, discovery, plea bargaining, jury trial, and sentencing. Students who have taken or are enrolled in CRIMINAL PROCEDURE: THE INVESTIGATORY PROCESS, or CRIMINAL PROCEDURE: COMPREHENSIVE are also permitted to take this course.
