Michael Fricklas (’84) receives “Excellence in Corporate Practice” Award
The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) has awarded their 2007 “Excellence in Corporate Practice” Award to Michael Fricklas (’84), the executive vice president, general counsel and secretary for Viacom Inc.
The ACC serves the professional needs of attorneys who practice in the legal departments of corporations and other private sector organizations worldwide, according to the ACC Web site.
“To be recognized by the largest organization of in-house lawyers for the work I do every day is extremely gratifying and somewhat humbling. Since I'm only 47, I hope to continue working for a long time at the same level,” said Fricklas.
Fricklas oversees over 200 in-house attorneys in his role as general counsel to Viacom, which he's held since 1998.
The “Excellence in Corporate Practice” Award recognizes achievements in legal advocacy and counseling, service to the legal profession, public service, civic and community contributions, and business and legal contributions to the success of the recipient’s in-house client.
“Michael is truly deserving of this award,” said ACC President, Frederick J. Krebs in an ACC press release. He leads by example and has spearheaded initiatives to develop strong processes for legal support for financial compliance and internal controls. His dedication to the legal profession is demonstrated not only through his leadership and guidance at Viacom, but also his participation in the [ACC] and involvement with his community.”
