Professor Hecht Releases New Work on Jewish Law

In 1983, Professor Neil S. Hecht founded BU Law’s Institute of Jewish Law. Still the director of the program, Hecht continues to add to the growing list of articles on Jewish law that have been published by the Institute with his latest work, Volume 17 of The Jewish Law Annual. The Annual provides English-speaking readers with scholarly articles presenting jurisprudential, historical, textual and comparative analyses of issues in Jewish law. Since founding the Institute, Hecht has written and edited a variety of treatises, monographs and teaching materials under its auspices, totaling 30 volumes to date.

Professor Hecht’s recent publications include "An Introduction to the History and Sources of Jewish Law," Volume 3 of Jewish Law in Context, Volume 7 of Selected Topics in Jewish Law and Volume 3 of Controversy and Dialogue in Halakhik Sources. In addition to his expertise in Jewish law, Professor Hecht has researched and published in the areas of evidence and property.
