fortyAlumnae Named to Boston Business Journal's "40 Under 40" Business Leaders

Each year the Boston Business Journal honors forty outstanding professionals under the age of 40 for their business success and community contributions. This year's picks include BU Law alumnae Marlo Fogelman ('97) and Leiha Macauley ('01) in their "40 Under 40" special.

After passing two bar exams, Marlo Fogelman entered the communications field, practicing public relations at Regan Communications before moving to a small marketing and public relations firm. She then started her own firm, Marlo Marketing/Communications, where she serves as principal for clients like Longwood Events, Savenors Market and Morton's. The company's focus "is on best-of-class consumer lifestyle products and services," said Fogelman. Her firm also works with nonprofit offices, including Zoo New England, the Boston Public Library, Combined Jewish Philanthropies and the Ellie Fund for Breast Cancer Research.

Leiha Macauley, an associate at Day Berry & Howard LLP, persuaded the firm to "adopt" the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center to provide pro bono legal advice for families with health and legal issues in the Child Health Advocacy Partnership. A mentor to first-year law students and president of the Young Alumni Council at BU Law, the civic-minded estate lawyer recently joined the board of the Big Sister organization and has mentored a young Boston teenager for seven years.
