Professor Ward Farnsworth named Scholar/Teacher of the Year

Professor Ward Farnsworth has been honored with the United Methodist Church Scholar/Teacher of the Year Award. He was presented with the prestigious award this Tuesday at the university-wide Fall Meeting of the Faculty Assembly at the Law School Auditorium.

The award recognizes outstanding faculty members for their dedication and contributions to the learning arts and to the institution.

Professor Ward Farnsworth specializes in areas of economic analysis, jurisprudence, tort law, constitutional law and rhetoric. Farnsworth has worked as a law clerk to Richard A. Posner, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and to Anthony M. Kennedy, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. In 1996, he served as a legal adviser to the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal in The Hague. Since 1997 he has taught at BU Law, where he now teaches courses on civil procedure, tort law and rhetoric.
