Annual BU Law Pro Bono Kick-off
Thank you to all of our pro bono organizations, students, alumni, faculty and staff who attended our Annual Pro Bono Kick-off. The Pro Bono Program was honored to present the 2008 Victor J. Garo Public Service Award to our distinguished alumna, Martha Koster (LAW, '71), for her lifelong commitment and dedication to public service. Students were able to meet some of this year's participating pro bono organizations and learn about the many pro bono opportunities available.

Last fall, The Pro Bono Program honored two BU Alumns, Middlesex Superior Court Judge, Julian Houston (LAW ’71), and Executive Director for Brown Rudnick’s Center for The Public Interest, Al Wallis (LAW ’73) at the BU Law Pro Bono Kick-off..
Both Houston and Wallis were presented with the 2007 Victor J. Garo Public Service Award for their commitment to public service.
Victor Garo (JD '65) was also on hand to recieve the 2007 Public Service Award named in his honor. It was an unexpected surprise for Victor. Congratulations to all of these distuingished alums for their devotion to public service.
We had a chance to interview both Al Wallis and Judge Houston. We hope you are inspired by their experience.

BU Law Pro Bono Panel, Fall 2007
The pro bono panel was a wonderful success. The panelists provided students with a chance to learn about various pro bono opportunities in large law firms around the northeast. Moderated by Professor Outterson, pro bono coordinators, managers, and directors from various northeast firms talked about their involvement with public service and how students can infuse pro bono work into their legal careers. If you were unable to attend the panel, please stop by the CDO for more information about these panelists and their firm's pro bono involvement.
