In Memoriam: Alan R. Stern (1985-2008)
The Morin Center and the Review of Banking and Financial Law mourn the loss of a dear friend,
Alan Stern, JD Class of 2009.
Congressman Barney Frank: Lessons of the Subprime Crisis
Congressman Barney Frank (D-Massachusetts), chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, delivered an address titled "Lessons of the Subprime Crisis" on Monday, February 11, 2008, Chairman Frank's speech marked the third lecture in the Edward Lane-Reticker Speaker Series.
First elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1981, Chairman Frank is a pivotal player in the shaping of national policies affecting the financial services industry and the world's capital markets.

Student Activities
Throughout the academic year students participate in a rich academic environment strengthened by such activities as “brown bag lunch” discussion seminars, enjoy social events with fellow Banking and Financial Law students as well as shared activities with students in BU Law’s other LL.M. programs.

Student lectures during have included presentations on risk-based capital adequacy framework in the Philippines, reforms in the Japanese financial market, an overview of the Polish banking system, and an introduction to the Brazilian Consorcio.
The academic environment is further enriched by the Morin Center’s array
of conferences, shorter programs and guest lecturers, including the Edward Lane- Reticker Speaker Series.
Social activities include receptions, baseball games, bowling, a “pot luck” dinner and a ski trip.
