Student Government Association
The Student Government Association (SGA) is the elected governing body representing students at BU Law. The elected executive board is composed of a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. Each JD class elects three representatives, plus two representatives from the LLM programs and one transfer student representative. In addition, the SGA consults with the administration to select student representatives to sit on select faculty committees, and those students report back to the broader group.
The three primary roles of SGA are to:
- Provide social programming for the entire student body;
- Provide funding and support for student groups and their programming efforts; and
- Serve as a liaison between the administration and the students. In order to best facilitate conversations between students and administrators, SGA offers a number of different avenues for students to share concerns and suggestions with SGA.
- First and foremost, students can always talk to one of the SGA representatives. SGA representatives hold office hours every weekday from 9am-5pm in our office, located in the Butler Atrium in the Redstone Building.
- Second, SGA holds Community Affairs Council meetings, during which students may raise any concerns.
- Third, students may take advantage of the SGA email account, firstname.lastname@example.org to submit any issues. If you would rather submit the issue anonymously, our website, sgalaw.bu.edu, features an anonymous online suggestion box, which can be found under the “Student Resources” tab.
