Scholarships and Writing Competitions

Through our own research and the notices that we receive, the BU Law Financial Aid Office has developed a list of outside scholarships and writing competitions available to law students.

We have posted basic information about these opportunities with links to the organization offering the scholarship. Some organizations send us applications and additional information which will be available in the Law Financial Aid Office.

While the lists are extensive, we know that there may be opportunities that we have not uncovered yet. We will keep looking and we encourage you to do the same.

As you look through the lists of scholarships and writing competitions, you will see the types of organizations and foundations that offer these programs.

  • Local bar associations (e.g., Fall River Bar Association, the Justinian Society Scholarships for Italian-Americans, Massachusetts Association of Women Lawyers)
  • Organizations devoted to a specific field of law (e.g. intellectual property, environmental law)
  • Law firms
  • Civic, corporate, or private organizations
  • Clubs or other organizations devoted to a particular ethnic heritage
  • Religious organizations
  • Community organizations
