Financial Aid Calendar

September/October

• Request Fall semester refund checks – on or after the first day of classes
  • Pick up the refund check
    • Step 1 - go to the Law Financial Aid Office to get an advance form
    • Step 2 - go to the Student Accounts Office to get the check on the spot
      Note: This may be done on or after the first day of classes
  • Have the check mailed to you
    • Step 1 - go to or call the Law Financial Aid Office to make the request up to 10 days before classes start
    • Step 2 - the check will arrive on or after the first day or classes
      Note: If requested after classes start - expect about a week for processing and mail time
  • Federal Loans that cover more than tuition and fees
    • If your federal loans (Graduate PLUS and/or Stafford) cover all your tuition and fees (not including medical insurance), a refund check will automatically be prepared and mailed to you - known as a Title IV refund.
      • Step 1 - complete the Federal Financial Aid Credit Authorization Form this form will allow you to request the refund through one of the above procedures
        • it allows you to avoid the automatic refund process
        • it is valid for multiple years; until you revoke the authorization
      • Step 2 - if you do not complete the Authorization Form, your check will be mailed automatically to the address on your Grad PLUS application form
      • Step 3 - if you have a scholarship, the amount of the scholarship is not counted as part of the Title IV refund amount and will remain on your student account until you request a check (according to the two options listed above)

December

• Spring semester tuition payment due
• January graduates – complete Exit Counseling requirement – Federal Loan borrowers only

January

• Request Spring semester refund checks – on or after the first day of classes

• Summer Work Study application due – 1L’s and 2L’s
• Renewal application materials become available

February

• Summer Work Study awards made

March

• Exit Counseling – graduating 3L’s – Federal Loan borrowers only

May

• May 1st – Deadline to submit next year’s financial aid forms
